Excellent location.
The hotel was ok, there was nothing specific I dislike but the hotel was nothing fantastic for a 5 *s. The room were clean and comfortable, but nothing different to a 4 *s hotel. I really hate the electronic fridge where you can even move a drink because it gets charged into your account.

the hotel's location was central, in a beautifullt decorated dining area. further, it was really close to great restaurants, shopping, museums and the beautiful park retiro and the center of madrid.
Views were awful.

It is a classic family hotel, very well cared for and elegant and very well located.
The lifts are very slow and scarce for the large number of people constantly entering and leaving the hotel. On more than one occasion we had to go up and down the stairs, which is problematic for people like us who travel with elderly people and children. We ordered a couple of things a la carte (which were outside the buffet): one day the order arrived very late, another day they forgot it and we had to order it again. In general the staff was very kind to us but I must refer to something that made us uncomfortable: the body language and in general the way of answering any request from the young girl with glasses in the reception left a lot to be desired. We were 6 people and every time we asked for a taxi for six there were snorts of disgust (as if she was doing us a favour!!!).

Room was spacious and the toiletries were plentiful
Not enough options for reasonably priced food in the hotel. Would have liked to get a small meal, like sushi rolls but not necessarily room service. Also, would have been nice to have an area to sit outside that was not at the bar or pool. It was still light out but the pool closed at 8 and I was asked to leave. When I questioned it, I was told I could stay but had to leave my room number for the towel.

Everything was great, met expectations, and the staff were accommodating people that really needs to be trained on customer service. Had enjoyable breakfasts with meats and fresh juices and fresh salmon in the club.

Agree with other customers - great breakfast, class in the hotel maintained all around, safe location and a beutiful area with exclusive shops.
Few chairs around the pool but always a way to get around this inconvenience. I always hope to spend less, but when the service merits it - well, what the... Only regret - we arrived after the midnight and were advised to order dinner in the room, a disappointment - we ate so well afterwards, including once in the hotel.

Due to a long stay in Summer we wanted a hotel with a pool and stayed here specifically for the off season rate and as such the quality and location were very good. The room and bed were very comfortable and quiet, bathroom quite large (excellent shower!) and housekeeping was excellent. Multi-lingual 24 hour news channels free. We are not big breakfast eaters so did not partake due to the high cost (normal in Spain so we did not mind). The neighborhood is mostly residential, quiet and green; the proximity to Retiro esp with children is wonderful and there are a couple of cafes for breakfast nearby. Very close to metro into the Center and to museums.
The cost of wi-fi. The electronic mini bar is absurd. Nothing may be added or touched without automatic charge. Sign says to ask if guest would like to put an item in the mini bar--we asked if we might store only a small container of milk for our young son and were told "yes" but we would be charged 3 to 4 euros (the cost of a bottle of water) every time we added/removed it from the fridge. The pool was unheated and in the shade so quite cold even in August. Not enough seating around pool. Desk staff claimed to speak little or no English which surprised us at a 5 star hotel. With the exception of one nice gentleman who helped us with a reservation the desk staff seemed apathetic. Non-news tv such as child/family friendly channels cost 25 euros per day.

The hotel was central to all our requirements and the attached restaurants were world standard.
Only one staff member was helpful in booking train travel. We were left to struggle with luggage on the footpath on our arrival late at night.
